Recently, an interesting story appeared in the media.
A resident of the US state of Connecticut, who suffered a serious head injury as a result of a car accident, was inserted an implant printed on a 3D printer. Came to the aid of the victim from the company Oxford Performance Materials.

They made an implant from a high-tech polymer used to create biomedical prostheses. As noted in the company, this material is biocompatible, similar to bone, permeable to x-rays.
3D printing technologies now predict a great future, comparing its appearance in importance with the invention of semiconductors in the 1960s. Experts believe that it will become the main technological trend of the coming years, capable of making a revolution in all spheres - from art and architecture to medicine and science. The use of 3D printers is incredibly wide. Prototyping, food production, implant manufacturing, and even the creation of weapon components will not do without them. Not surprisingly, this technology today attracts the attention of a huge number of people. For example, the first in Russia exhibition of advanced 3D printing technologies, 3D Print Expo, which took place in February of this year, gathered about 5,000 visitors in two days. More than 40 companies, including domestic ones, settled down on the site with their stands.

Exhibitors noted that the Russian 3D printing market has finally started. And although he still does not show significant results, it is already safe to talk about his great potential.
For Krasnodar Region, as well as for the entire SFD, such a business is still new.
A few market participants note that today this niche in the region is practically empty. However, in their opinion, it is too early to talk about high incomes. The fact is that for the majority of our fellow citizens, 3D printing is still something at least unexplored, or even fantastic.

GREAT OPPORTUNITIES
Today, all 3D printers can be divided into four classes: consumer, personal, professional and manufacturing. The first are focused on domestic use, their cost ranges from 20 to 150 thousand rubles. The second is intended for small companies: engineering bureaus, design studios and so on. The price of printers of this class ranges from 250 thousand to 1.5 million rubles. The last two types are designed for companies that manufacture
prototypes and objects with high accuracy rates.

For devices of this class will have to pay from 1.2 to 40 million rubles.
“Printers differ in print volume, i.e. surface area and height, as well as accuracy. One model prints fine details well, and the second can quickly and clearly produce large pieces, ”explains Alexander Vasiliev, a representative of the Krasnodar company sdprint. Consumables for 3D printers also vary. ABS and PLA are considered the most popular in Russia today. The cost of one kilogram plastic roller is about 2 thousand rubles. “Manufacturers of ABS plastic are just emerging in Russia, but the cost of their products is unreasonably high. About the PLA there is no talk at all, apparently, there is a problem with corn in the country, ”jokes Artem Sobolev, head of the Base Station of 3D printing. “Chinese plastic is 4-5 times cheaper than the Russian, but you have to pay a lot for delivery and wait 1-2 months.”

In order to print an object, it must first be modeled on a computer. And for this, in turn, requires special software. “Each printer has its own software. But you can use third-party, - explains the owner of the company Plastic3dprint Andrei Novoseltsev. - There is both free and paid software. Artists, for example, prefer to use 3ds mach. ”
You can not make models yourself, but find them in stocks like Thingiverse. The famous torrent tracker also opened a section for models for printing called Physibles.

The most affordable 3D printing technology, FDM, is a plastic extrusion process. A plastic extruder melts with a special extruder, and then is put in layers, 0.3 mm thick.
Theoretically, you can print any object using a 3D printer: from a tablespoon and a rug with a complex texture to body parts and medical prostheses.

The quality and speed of printing will depend on the class and size of the device. “Recently, one company producing egg trays decided to give its regular customer an exclusive gift — a plastic tray and chicken,” says Andrei Novoseltsev. - The model was printed for about a week, and after that it was transferred to the artists who painted it. The cost of such a gift is about 25 thousand rubles. ”
